Saint Petersburg will host the XIII International Scientific Congress “Sport, People and Health”

Scientific theme

The main scientific theme of the Congress is ‘Strengthening and developing the international sports movement. Bringing people together around the Olympic ideals and principles and the moral values of sport’. Discussions will focus on the development of contemporary sport, cooperation between the scientific community, sports organisations and government bodies, and the sharing of leading practices in physical culture, healthcare and education.

Provisional programme

The provisional programme includes 14 scientific sections. Themes include developing emerging and high-performance athletes, sports medicine, psychology, adaptive physical education, digital transformation and sports diplomacy. Panel discussions, a round table, masterclasses and the Sport and Health exhibition are also planned.

The opening ceremony, plenary session, exhibition opening and off-site activities are scheduled for 28 April. On 29 April, the focus will be on scientific sessions and special formats. The closing plenary session, the conclusion of the Congress and the cultural programme are planned for 30 April. The programme is provisional and will be expanded.

Participation format and venue

The Congress will offer in-person and online participation. The in-person programme will be held at Cosmos Saint-Petersburg Pribaltiyskaya Hotel, 14 Korablestroiteley Street, Saint Petersburg. The official languages are Russian and English; simultaneous interpreting will be provided.

Registration and paper submissions

Participant registration is open until 20 April 2027. Papers for publication in the Congress proceedings are accepted until 1 February 2027. Paper submission is available after participant registration.

Organisers and supporters

The Congress is organised by the International Public Organisation for the Promotion of Science and Sport ‘Sport, People and Health’, P. F. Lesgaft National State University of Physical Education, Sport and Health, and the International SAMBO Federation (FIAS). The co-organisers are Saint Petersburg State University and the Saint Petersburg Committee for External Relations.

The Congress will be held with the support of the Ministry of Sport of the Russian Federation, the Russian Olympic Committee and the Saint Petersburg Government.
