Students of Lesgaft National State University of Physical Education, Sport and Health, Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia, and Saint Petersburg State University do extensive work in Saint Petersburg, organising Olympic lessons, sports festivals, demonstrations and masterclasses. Volunteering is one of the main activities undertaken by students at these universities: a form of civic participation in socially useful work that plays an important role in developing and improving professional skills.
Volunteers from these universities have actively contributed to the International Scientific Congresses “Sport, People and Health” since 2013. The Congress Organising Committee values its cooperation with their volunteer movements and plans to work with them again in organising and running the Congresses.
Experienced volunteers provide organisational and language support. The volunteer movement includes university students, graduates, postgraduate researchers, early-career researchers and staff. University leaders and academic staff believe that volunteering offers a unique opportunity to put the knowledge, abilities and skills taught in the classroom into practice.
